Red Tape - Radioactivist

Why did I buy this album?! It's really... well, not that good! What they've done here is put pinched harmonics in just about every song with samey vocals and predictable structure in their songs. The only good song is ''Stalingrad' which fooled me into buying the album in the first place. The album is good for a laugh though, if you were to listen to the beginning of 'Radioactivist' and the beginning of 'Reactor' you'd shit yourself laughing at how hard it is to spot a difference (because there isn't one), also one song features the lyrics, "maybe i'm predictable but i'm like 'fuck it all'".. yes, that's not predictable for a punk band... which is another thing - what are a punk band doing on roadrunner records anyway?

To be fair there are some good moments such as 'The Waltz' and the atmospheric 'Intro' theme which wasn't made by the band but stil, it's good. Unfortunately most of the album reads like a punk rock cliche, although the album has a political message there's no, "fuck you george bush" lyrics in it so they're probably the most original punk rock band around at the moment! I don't know why punk bands try to convey a political message in their songs. Like Ian Macakye from Fugazi sings on The Argument "It's all about strikes now, so here's what's striking me- that some punk could argue some moral ABC's" and he's right, this is exactly the kind of example that lyric is about. Punk rock music isn't clever, think about it power chords, drum rolls, shouting, lyrics about George W. Bush or the femal anatomy. What will they do when George W. Bush loses the elections? "Woohoo" by NOFX I don't think so, more like NOFX, R.I.P. Modern Punk music sickens me, I really, really don't like it. Musically it falls short of intelligence, lyrically it falls short of anything worth thinking about for more than a couple of minutes and the albums last about 30 minutes, most of which you've already had shoved in your face on tv.

Go away.
