Honey Ride Me A Goat - Curried Goat
Honey Ride Me A Goat's deput EP released by Kitchen Dweller Records is simply great. This band's (jazz+punk) 'junk-rock' outing is as confusing as it is masterful. I see chickens crying, butchers laughing, sophistos slurping, greeks entwining and old men reminiscing - all from twenty seconds of the aptly-titled, 'Ryan Raped Me'.

Jazz in its pace, math in its deliverance and punk in its attitude, HRMAG's music shifts tectonic plates in milliseconds, then returns them to their places quicker than before! Quick and complex and (probably) thinking two shots ahead (y'know, like a snooker player) whatever comes next is sure to surprise as these guys seem hell bent on creating constantly different musical interventions.

I guess I have to compare this music to a band like Fantömas, due to some of the tricks used on the vocals (although they are quite scarce) and the structure of the songs are nearly impossible to remember after first hearing.

My only complaints being that they lack an aggression that I thought had been promised to me with the 'unk' part in their 'junk' music tag, also I now fear curry because of their artwork.

This aside, this EP is "fucking great" by my standards. The musicianship is amazing, these guys must have great memories and the melodies (however short and spasticated) are self-inflictive hooks that will bring you back to this 10" instantly, despite its ability to confuse you. Instead good enough to provoke curiosity instead of disgust
