Help She Can't Swim - Nottingham, Rescue Rooms - 26.03.05.
With their debut album (last years excellent 'Fashionista Super Dance Troupe') weighing in at under half an hour you’d think Help She Can’t Swim would struggle to fill a main support slot (tonight with the Blood Brothers) but fill it they do and them some. The Rescue Rooms is almost full when HSCS take to the stage and release their special brand of kooky rock on a mainly unsuspecting audience. With this being the last date of their tour they don’t hold back either, staring with new single 'I Don’t Need You' they blast 2 minute track after 2 minute track in quick succession. Lead guitarist Tom throws himself about the stage like a man suffering from Ataxia whilst lead singer Leesey’s voice alone commands your attention, obviously failing after nights of touring and too many cigarettes yet it still rises over the racket being made by her band members. The message from HSCS is clear, they want you to let loose and dance and not care about being cool.

More power to them I say.
