'Pedestrian 01' compilation sold out
Just a brief one to let you know that our first ever release, 'Pedestrian 01' is now sold out.

The CD-R compilation contained 19 artists from around the UK. Some may have gone on to success, some may not have and some may have split up. This was all inevitable - we weren't making a compilation full of "these guys are gonna be huge" mentality, we were making a compilation with the aim to promote artists that we thought were really good.

Anyway, I feel it's worth an update, a 'where are they now?' reminisci-package.

Starting from the top (oops, did I say 'brief'?!):

Men of Unitus
...Have just finished working on an album, I plan to interview them soon on this. From what I gather it's heavy as fuck and has multiple gland-based puns ('Gland of Hope & Glory' being my current fav).

The Beat Poet
After the 'Hardest Battles Fought EP/Demo' they sent me (review) the guys started making more Q And Not U-influenced music and used an old crappy keyboard for drum patterns. This wasn't as clichéd as it sounds and came out really well. I for one was very excited. I somehow got Zane Lowe to mention them on MTV2 via clever internet tactics (basically I just said they were awesome and he repeated it on his Gonzo show). Then they split up - I was told this was not directly related to the MTV2 incident! The two Wolland brothers in the band have now got their other brother involved in their music pursuits and are now called Samuel Sharp who are currently due to record some more songs very soon. You can hear more of The Beat Poet on their old MySpace page.

Resonate
May actually be old enough to smoke now. They've done really well, despite having escaped my gaze recently. A quick glance on their MySpace page shows that they've been gigging hard and earning respects along the way. They have a new 6-track EP called 'Tell Yourself Its Paranoia' which you can check out on the band's MySpace page.

about:blank
Is a 'side-project' of mine that I'm planning to revisit soon. Someone used the song 'Camera' in a short film where a man turns into a dog or something? I never got to see it!

Mydriasis
RIP. They managed to play Buk and Skit festival as well as an intensely bad Bedford-based festival.

Europica
I have no information (or pictures) on Europica!

The Zipper
RIP. These guys had a good run and still remain one of my favourite Bedford bands. They somehow got to play SXSW in Austin, Texas and, as legend goes, were approached by an A&R guy for Sony who they told to "fuck off" - apparently because they didn't believe he was from Sony! They became slightly notorious for playing gigs whilst quite inebriated and I've not heard about any of the band members being in any new bands.

Ally Craig
Ally seems to be doing really well, having played with members of Yes and, I think, recording with members of Acoustic Ladyland. Lots of info and downloads are available from his blog here.

Centrifuge
RIP. Centrifuge seemed really promising but eventually winded down. I almost lost contact with them, then I stumbled into their guitarist, Mark, at ATP vs The Fans whilst watching Yo La Tengo. He's ditched his effect pedals to form a new band called Ox Scapula who we'll no doubt be featuring on this website more soon. Bassist Wayne is now running Welikedanger! - a record label and gig promotions thing who recently released the great Truckdriver Jnr. EP which will definitely be getting a review here very soon (apologies for my slackness).

Iydee Estee
RIP? Lost contact and couldn't find any info on these guys!

A Number Equal To X
Peter (aka 'ANEX') is now in two bands, one violin and drum two-piece called Madrid Axemen (features Peter on drums and comes highly recommended), and another is his industrial/electronic improvisation band, again a two-piece consisting of him and his brother Ed, called Circuit Breaker. I don't think Peter has any plans to return to his ANEX moniker but check out his new bands because they're seriously very great.

Revelation
RIP. Not quite sure what happened to Revelation but they're probably the only metal band from Bedford I will admit to liking as they were really fucking competent musicians and sounded huge live.

People in Planes
These nice Welsh guys got snapped up to American major label, Wind-Up records (home to Evanescence) shortly after appearing on Pedestrian 01 and have been spending a lot of time in America touring, making promo videos directed by Jaoquin Phoenix and playing American talk shows whilst remaining totally low-key over here. Quite bizarre. They did return late 2007 for a few shows and I bumped into their drummer at Truck Fest in 2006, he gave me some doughnuts and I forgot to send him a copy of this compilation - oops.

Souls Vibrating in the Universe
Not too sure what these guys have been up to apart from recording their album. You can hear a few tracks on their MySpace page - here

Epideme
After founding member, Mike Simon, left it was unsure what would happen with Epideme but Epideme are still going strong and have Jon Wood to replace Mike. They're going pretty strong, doing a lot of touring and are about to release a 7" on Jonson Family Records which we'll no doubt review. Outside of the band Barney is running his Tatty Seaside Town gig promotions thing and drummer Finian has been driving and doing engineering for Blood Red Shoes, I believe.

Garrett
Garrett played gigs in-between their day jobs and eventually lost their guitarist Neil, who lives in Japan and still sometimes gives me wonderful guitar buying advice when I need it. They became a three-piece, were almost going to release a 7" with DIRTY and then split up. Drummer Tim and singer Tom briefly formed a new band called Some Princes and are now involved in a new, as-yet unnamed band and are anticipated to start playing gigs late 2008. Tom is a producer at Fortress Studios and has been involved in loads of recordings and perhaps is more famously known for having produced the Ice, Sea, Dead People 7".

Stem
Stem recorded a really good EP and unfortunately were unable to gig it due to increasingly busy lives of all involved. They still exist as a band though, and hopefully things will begin rolling again soon.

Mad Library
Went into hiatus sometime in late 2005. Drummer Joe was also involved in promoting gigs as Lone Shark in Exeter and now manages Resonate, I think.

Whew! So that's all of them. If you're involved in one of the bands and have more info for me then pass it on (via the Contact page) and I'll update this.
