Glorytellers - Glorytellers
Glorytellers face a daunting task. In a time where "acoustic" can seemingly instantly convey to some people a band or artist's sound, it's got to be hard to distinguish themselves. Sadly, for Glorytellers, they remain a part of the scenery.

A quite rhythm section and meandering guitar are the backdrop for a voice which lacks uniqueness in the same way as the cryptic lyrics, which - though never crudely cliched - do seem indistinct. At times the music is conservative but at others quirkily irregular. However, unremarkably so.

For a style that has clearly been "done before", excellent song writing is a necessity. As you might have guessed, Glorytellers lack it and, presenting themselves with a degree of self-importance, it's hard to feel endeared or even sympathetic.

'Troavato Suono' is maybe the album's most ill-advised move. Breathily expressing words loaded with feigned significance, the singer ventures into Italian and, honestly, it made me laugh.

In the end, Glorytellers suffer from sameness coupled with pretension in a pretty unpleasant way. It's boring. It's condescending. I find it extremely unlikeable.
