MP3: No Age - 'Teen Creeps' ('Nouns', Sub Pop)

1. What’s the most over-the-top thing anyone’s said about your music?
There was a comment on iTunes for 'Weirdo Rippers' and it's iTunes, y'know; a really important website thing. Someone said we sounded like "assholes who would come to your town and make out with their girlfriends". What does that mean?!

2. Favourite films?
Down By Law - one of my favourite soundtracks. I also really love Psycho too. I'm a huge fan of it and I think it's one of the best pieces of pop culture... and from there, um, Jaws.

3. Top 5 albums?
Wow. Definitely My Blood Valentine - 'Loveless'. When I was thirteen or fourteen I received my older brother's tape collection, and used to always have my walkman on; 'Loveless' was definitely played a lot. The first Big Black record [Atomizer]. 'In The Aeroplane Over The Sea' - Neutral Milk Hotel. This record I was listening to the other day, and I realised how great it was, 'The Blue Album' by Weezer. It's kind of perfect. I think it came out when I was 12 or 13, Dean and I were listening to it the other day and we were shocked because we still knew all the words. Then 'Ram' by Paul and Linda McCartney.

4. Most scary thing to happen at a gig?
Oh my god. This is embarrassing for me but we were playing a gig with Deerhunter in a tiny pizzeria in Carolina to only, like, twenty people. It was hot and I took a tray full of ice and threw it to the audience but the tray slipped from my hand and I thought it just landed on the floor somewhere. It was just so hot I thought it would be good to do. But it turned out that the corner of the tray had hit someone in the forehead, it hit a young woman in the forehead and they had to get stitches... There was blood coming out... It was such an innocent accident and that was the most scared I've ever been.

5. If you weren’t in a band, what would you be doing?
Oh. I'd probably be making films. I made a short film for a skateboard company called Altamont called 'The Foreigners' (watch it here!). I went to Paris with them. I'm working on a documentary about all-ages shows. I also did the 'Boy Void' video.

6. If you had to come up with your own question, what would it be? (This is basically a chance for you to say whatever you want as an answer)?
I always like to say it's really important to believe in yourself because, realistically, you're the only one who does. I know it sounds easy but it took me a really long time to build up the confidence to believe in what I really wanted to do, so, my question would be, "Words of advice?" or something like that. Believe in yourself, do as you love to do and you'll be happy.

Huge thanks to Randy.
