In their short life, Lovvers have managed to almost do a full roundabout in sound. Each of the three 7”s released on Jonson Family Records showed a gradual change in style, with the first self-titled EP of noisy, fuzzed up garage morphing into the slow-pace and sludgy riffs found on the last single 'Laughing Man'.
But "slow" is definitely not the right word to use when describing 'Think'. "Hurricane" would be more apt, with the EP flying by with 7 tracks in just 13 minutes. "Pop" would probably seem like an out of place word as well, but there are some very anthemic moments when it comes to the melodies provided by the sneering vocals of ex-Murder Of Rosa Luxembourg singer, Shaun Hencher.
The “chorus” riff in 'No Romantics' wouldn’t sound out of place on a Descendents record either, with an almost happy, pop punk bounciness. Along with the Shitty Limits, Lovvers have managed to resuscitate the fun, no-bullshit sound of the late 70’s/early 80’s underground scene, with the snotty, care-free vibe of the Germs and Replacments and the pop leanings (and garagey solos) of Richard Hell.
And then it’s all over before you even manage to check what the name of the last track was, but it doesn’t really matter because you just flick back to track one, jump around your room and smash up your air guitar.
