Radar: 13th-19th October 2008 |

This (NEW) weekly blog involves DIRTY staff zooming around the vast mass of information and content that is called "internets" and sharing links to the most delectable.
- ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead - 'Bells of Creation (Machete Mix)' [stream] - myspace.com/trailofdead
A new track from Austinites ...Trail of Dead sees them return to form with a song that's probably the best thing they've done since track 2 on 'Worlds Apart'!
- BBC News - 'Jamaica Puzzled By Theft of Beach' [text] - bbc.co.uk
Chosen purely because of the headline reminding us of some sort of Brass Eye news story that never happened, but has actually happened, for real, on the BBC News website.
- Cheryl Donegan - 'Neighbour's Trash' [painting] - hiddevanseggelen.com
Violent and bedazzling exhibition by Cheryl Donegan now showing at Hidde van Seggelen gallery in London.
- Drum Eyes - '50 50' [stream] - myspace.com/drumeyes
Not a new track this week but still, one worth checking out. Drum Eyes are a ridiculously great supergroup featuring Liam of Trencher, DJ Scotch Egg, Kai of The Phil Collins 3 (rip), Akiko of PRE/Comanechi and ex-Boredums drummer, E-Da... Are you wet yet?!
- Japanther - 'Bumpin' Rap Tapes' [mp3] - spin.com
Exclusive free download from Japanther.
- Lovvers - 'Human Hair' [video] - youtube.com
Ghoulish/sexy/cold/windy/wet video for 'Human Hair' single from Lovvers, who we interviewed last week, read it!
- Ian Mackaye - 'Is Watching You Masturbate' [image] - tumblefeed.thair.net
No words need to be said...!
- No Age - 'Endorse Obama; get censored, get hurt' [blog/video] - noagela.blogspot.com
We got an e-mail about Randy Randall, who we interviewed in August (READ IT!), being told not to wear his Obama t-shirt at a live talkshow appearance and instead having to quickly change into a 'Free Health Care' shirt. Craig Ferguson is the host, he does his best to poke fun at it (whilst reminding me of a cross breed between Shrek and Jonathan Ross) and then shows their live performance where No Age angrily abandon song before the end. A nice touch.
- Marnie Stern - 'The Crippled Jazzer' [stream/mp3] - imeem.com
One of the highlights of Marnie Stern's new album, 'This Is It and I Am It and You Are It and So Is That and He Is It and She Is It and It Is It and That Is That' (review coming soon). Once again featuring Zach Hill (Hella) on drums.
- Jay Reatard - 'See Saw' [mp3] - matadorrecords.com
Two free mp3s are on this page, 'See Saw' and 'Always Wanting More' both tracks from Jay Reatard's latest album, 'Matador Singles '08'.
- Of Montreal - live in New York [photos] - flickr.com/kathryn
Incredible live photos from Of Montreal's live show in New York on the 10th October 2008. DIRTY went to see the band perform at the Koko and although it was fairly amazing, it probably wasn't on par with their show in New York. No white horses for us!
- Of Montreal & some of MGMT - 'Smells Like Teen Spirit (live)' [video] - vimeo.com
Of Montreal (again, sorry but their live show really is SOMETHING!) with members of MGMT, destroying the crowd with Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'.
- Tenebrous Liar - 'Sour' [mp3] - tenebrous.tv
Enjoy a sample of 'Tenebrous Liar's Last Stand' the new album by photgrapher/journalist, Steve Gullick's band, Tenebrous Liar.
- XBXRX - 'Freezing Water (badly mimed)' [video] - youtube.com
Insane. XBXRX 'playing' convincingly on a kid's show called Chic-a-go-go in Chicago. Great name. Great presenter, alright!!! Alright, alright, anyway, alright, this video is alright! Alright? Alright!!! Don't miss out on our interview that we did with Vice Cooler, alright??? Hahalllllrighhht!!!
Heard/seen/read/whatever anything great this week that should go in next week's 'Radar'? Well DO share it with us on the forum! |
