Radiohead - OK Computer

I know what everyone thinks of Radiohead. Even the press are at it. Difficult. Depressing. Intellectually challenging. In the big picture, they are a brilliant rock band, and there's no denying it. This is their opus. Their masterwork. Their take on 'Darkside Of the Moon', if you will. 'Paranoid Android' is an almost orgasmic 6 minutes on anthemic riffage, and more than a slight nod to Douglas Adams' "Hitch-hiker's Guide To The Galaxy". 'Exit Music (For A Film)' is a beautiful ballad, originally intended for Baz Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet (the band instead provided the quite wonderful 'Talkshow Host'.)

'Karma Police' is another highlight, a simple melody lies under Thom Yorke's description of a horrifying party. The Radiohead version of Blur's 'Charmless Man', basically. 'Fitter, Happier' follows, a description of a sanitated person of the 21st century.

'Climbing Up The Walls' is a haunting fly through trip-hop, and 'Lucky', originally written for the Warchild Compilation is a quiet ballad with an almight chorus. 'The Tourist' closes it off, with a famous "ting" on the triangle bringing a climax to proceedings.

If this doesn't change what people have previously told you, I don't know what will. A true masterwork.
