Kinesis - Handshakes For Bullets
Just when you thought the standard of modern day rock was progressing slowly down the 'same-old same-old' track of one album wonders, along come Kinesis. They are the young Rage Against The Machine, while creating enough of their own charismatic destruction to blow Athlete out of their lukewarm gig and back into the studio to think about what 'creative music' is all about.

THIS is what it's all about for Kinesis. They're not there to be the 'politically driven angst ridden cuter than a button' band. Oh no, it goes way deeper than that.

This is an album and a band to believe in, it's ok to let them get under your skin, and it's perfectly fine to really listen to what they've got to say. It's not in your face let's get angry and bitch about the state of the Government jargon (Travis...) it's opening doors for those who are interested in the future of British rock and to look a little further if they chose to.

'Handshakes For Bullets' is core 3D in a big way. These guys have true compassion and soul (even though the eldest of the four is only twenty-one) and their music is not something to be ignored. The introductory belter that is 'One Way Mirror' seethes, "when your heart's that cold/ a little gunfire warms the soul..." is a direct 'FUCK YOU' aimed at the state of modern life, only escalated by the gut wrenching guitar and the vocals of Michael Bromley.

The build up intro of 'Conveyorbelt Destruction' criest through your stereo making you really sit up and listen, because what these guys have to say is worth your time. They may be young, but they know their shit. It's social awareness, you don't have to take note and follow their path if you don't want to. It's the need to break free from the normality and oppression that moulds today's society, and dare to be different from everyone esle without the fear of being left behind.

Ignore this band at your own peril, because I have a feeling that these Bolton lads won't take it lying down. With the emotional and creative drive that could give our steam trains a run for their money, they're so young, and the maturity of the melodies and rifts leaves you wondering if this is actually their debut album and not their second or third.

In short, this album ROCKS! Go buy it, if not, go see them live. They bring as much energy to the stage as they do in 'Handshakes...'. For me, it was love at first sight and sound. Genius
